The top five natural remedies include honey, known for its anti-inflammatory properties; soothing teas like chamomile; cold treats such as popsicles or ice cream; a simple salt water gargle; and peppermint, which may have anti-inflammatory effects.
While these remedies can provide relief, Dr. Hutchison emphasizes they are not cures for illnesses like strep throat. She advises seeking medical attention for severe symptoms or if you feel your throat is closing.
