Three natural remedies to try against psoriasis

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition where someone’s body creates antibodies that attack their own healthy tissue. With psoriasis, certain areas of skin are replaced every 3-5 days instead of 28-30 days. This accelerated skin cell production is what causes the redness, scaliness and flaking of psoriasis.

What’s really taking place is a T-cell dysfunction – in particular, the TH17 cell. T-cells are part of the acquired immune system – in other words, a system that someone isn’t born with, but acquires over time. This dysfunction of TH17 cells is typically triggered by an altered microbiome, strep throat or other infection. When these cells dysfunction, they induce a massive amount of inflammation, while, at the same time, T-regulating cells are suppressed.

Thankfully though, vitamin D suppresses TH17. That’s why Dr. Berg’s first natural psoriasis remedy is to take a vitamin D supplement. Vitamin D acts like cortisol, which is one of the primary treatments for psoriasis.
